What is Messy Makers?
A makerspace is designated space for making, learning, exploring and sharing. The space can have anything from arts and crafts supplies, to LEGOs, to a full-blown lab with 3D printers, sewing machines, and hand tools. No two makerspaces are exactly alike, nor should they be; a makerspace should be an unstructured opportunity to foster a child's imagination.
Our school makerspace will be a temporary area setup in the cafeteria and facilitated by Messy Makers Community.
On November 19, your student will have the opportunity to visit this open-ended project area to express themselves through their own discovery, creativity, and work.
Help us stock our makerspace full of wonderful supplies for the students to use to create. We welcome students to bring in the following items the week of November 16th for our supply drive:
Brown paper shopping bags
Shoe boxes or small package boxes
Paper towel rolls
Toilet paper rolls
Small wooden blocks or popsicle sticks
Foam pieces
Nuts and bolts - no rust or sharp points
Paper clips and clothespins
Washed Shells
Pinecones
Small plastic toys
Rubber bands
Pipe cleaners
Googly eyes
Marbles and gems
*Kindly note we cannot accept any food packaging or containers.
Session 1 - 5:30 - 6:15
Session 2 - 6:30 - 7:15
Session 3 - 7:30 - 8:15
Each session will hold 25 students. This is not a drop-off event, but siblings are welcome!
